1. Arrival in the Russian Federation

Upon entry to Russia you were given a migration card, on which the facts of entry and exit from Russia are entered.

After entry, you are obliged to bring the following documents to the Dean's office for international students on the day of arrival (with the exception of holidays and weekends):

  • Original of migration card
  • Copy of passport (all pages)

After arrival in Russia you have to submit documents for a migration registration.

You need to get registration at the place of stay in a hotel / hostel / apartment / dormitory.

In case you do not receive this document after seven days, it will be considered as a violation of migration legislation and may result in penalty and other problems associated with obtaining a new visa and in the worst case – deportation and a ban on entry for five years.

Registration allows the foreign student to reside at a specified address for the period specified in the registration.

A new registration is made at each new address. In this case the previous one is canceled.

2. Visa extension

Documents for extending the validity of a study visa must be submitted no later than 45 days before the expiration of the existing visa.

For visa extension you should submit to the dean's office for international students the following documents:

  • Copy of passport (only pages with stamps and visas)
  • Copies of all pages of educational contract
  • Receipt for payment visa fee (1.920 rubles)
  • One photo (size 3*4 cm)

After receiving in dean’s office a complete set of documents for visa extension, you must submit them in Visa Office:

3. Medical exam and fingerprinting

Foreign citizens who have arrived in the Russian Federation are required to undergo a medical examination and mandatory state fingerprint registration and photographing within 90 calendar days from the date of entry into the Russian Federation.

Mandatory medical examination should be carried out once a year (annual). Mandatory state fingerprint registration and photographing (green card) is carried out once 10 years.

For medical examination take with you:

  • passport
  • migration card/registration (copies)
  • money (~ 17 000 rubles)
  • spravka (from dean’s office, room 28)

If the medical examination is not completed within the specified period, the foreign citizen will be deported from the territory of the Russian Federation with entry ban for 5 years. Extension of registration and visa will not be possible.

3. Extension of registration

1. After arrival you submit documents for registration

2. You submit documents for visa extension

3. You undergo medical examination and fingerprinting

4. Then you submit all the documents for registration extension

LIST OF DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION EXTENSION:

  • COPY OF PASSPORT WITH A NEW VISA
  • RESULTS OF MEDICAL EXAMINATION (HIV RESULT)
  • COPY OF FINGERPRINTING GREEN CARD
  • DORMITORY PASS (PROPUSK)

After getting a visa, you have one day to submit documents for a new registration.

If you leave Russia, your registration becomes invalid. Upon return you have to register again.

As you see, it is extremely important to have a valid registration. In case you do not have a valid registration during a certain period of time, it might lead to problems, penalty and even your deportation.

4. Health insurance

Foreign citizens MUST have a health insurance, providing primary health care, emergency medical care and repatriation.

5. Passport renewal

If you have damaged your passport, lost your passport, or need to renew your passport due to expiration, come to dean's office for international students (room 28).

After getting a new passport, you are obliged to inform the International office (3rd building, room 28) on the day you receive your passport and provide the following documents to change your migration registration data and transfer the visa to a new passport:

  • copy of all pages of the new passport
  • copy of all pages of the old passport
  • documents confirming the day on which the passport was received on hands (tickets to the Consulate, delivery bill or a certificate from the Consulate)

If you do not inform the Dean’s office about the renewal of your national passport, this is characterized as a violation of the regime and rules of your stay on the territory of the Russian Federation.

6. Departure

To leave Russia for vacation, you need to come to Dean's office for international students (room 28) in advance, write an application and sign a clearance list.

Departure without filling an application and clearance list is FORBIDDEN!

You must get all the permissions before going home!
